Rare 2022 Rolex Datejust Wimbledon 41mm (RoseGold/Steel) with Purple Dial (tropical?)

Hello!

I intend to sell my Rolex Datejust Wimbledon, 41 mm in rose gold and steel, from the year 2022. The watch has been worn, and the dial shows signs of discoloration (purple dial). Experts at Bucherer Lucerne have recommended that I auction the watch due to this rare purple dial discoloration.

I'm reaching out to the community to understand:
  • How rare is this type of discoloration on a Rolex Datejust Wimbledon?
  • What are the current price expectations for a watch with such a unique characteristic?
  • Where would be the best platforms to offer this watch for sale?

I look forward to your insights and recommendations.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Best regards,
SiCe

The watch is too new for that to be anything other than a QC problem. No one's going to pay extra for a two-year old watch with a discoloured dial.

That looks beautiful. The violet purple in the watch spreads nicely across the dial. Above all, it matches the Wimbledon logo, which also contains violet purple. Perhaps you should take it to an auction, as mistakes rarely happen with Rolex.

Now I’ve seen the image I would hold onto that if you’re financially able to. Surely others will emerge and the story will become more compelling. I do see an upside over time but it all depends on the coverage and how widespread it was. Batch size, etc.

I find this statement bizarre though “ Experts at Bucherer Lucerne have recommended that I auction the watch due to this rare purple dial discoloration.”

Bucherer is owned by Rolex and I would have assumed that they would want that watch quietly repaired rather than their manufacturing error made public via an auction. Something seems off IMHO.

Those pictures arent that great, maybe its a lighting thing like the early orange marker 39mm Milgauss whos black dial turns gray when in under light or extreme light conditions.

I would like to see this dial in better lighting conditions

It does look nice.
Problem is that you are perhaps the only one having such a defective dial which makes it questionable.
For this reason I doubt if you can sell it for more, maybe it brings even less compared to market value for a mint dial.
