Anyone own both blue and slade dial Yachtmaster 40 or have 2 of the same model?

My slade Yachtmaster 40 is my most comfortable watch and i simply love the bi-directional bezel. Would love to get a blue dial, but feel as if I should expand my collection into other models before I get a second of one i already own. Currently own Yachtmaster 40 Slade, Black GMT Master II, Green OP 41 and on list for Air King. All thoughts opinions welcome

There are no collecting rules. Buy what you want to see and feel on your wrist.

Go for it! I agree the YM is the most comfortable watch I have.

I have both. One of them is the 116622 series which was called the “Rhodium" dial. The blue dial one is the 12 series. I wear the blue dial one more frequently than the other one. For me, the YM40 is the most comfortable watch in my collection.

Sounds like a solid collection! If you love the YM40, a blue dial would be a great addition, but branching out could keep things interesting

Maybe wait until you land the Air King and see how you feel—no wrong choice here!

I used to shun the idea of having different dial colors of the same model watch. It still comes up often any time the SS Daytona is mentioned. I have owned three generations and both black and white. I am happy with my black 116500 and have no desire to add a white.
But the last few years I’ve become a big fan of the new gen OP41’s. I have a few of those.

I do like the Yachtmaster and prefer the blue dial.

There are collectors who only buy Submariners. There's no right or wrong to any of this. I have found, in my experience, that owning two of the same model (even if dial or bezel are different) results in both getting worn less. I like to have the best representative variation of any given model, particularly with Rolex.

The only redundancy I have in my collection is ironically the Submariner. I have 16610 that was the first Rolex I was ever gifted by my parents. It will never go anywhere. I also have a modern 126610LV.

This is a good take on it, and I agree.
