Can’t speak for Philadelphia but I visit New York every year and always wear one of my Rolex. It’s definitely a ”watch city” where you will see plenty wherever you go. I enjoy browsing the many watch stores and boutiques too.

Wearing a watch whilst traveling is the primary reason I bought my GMT Master II. I love wearing a nice watch while I visit luxury watch boutiques and AD’s globally.
I would never not wear a watch. If I was concerned, I’d pick up a nice Tudor or GS to allay those insecurities. ps. I travel to London frequently and the truth (as is the case in almost everything) is found somewhere in the middle. I’ve had instances where I have put my watch in my pocket but for the most part I enjoy wearing Rolex in the UK. I do wear my 226570 though since it is less flashy. |

Bring the watch, be aware of your surroundings like everywhere else. Cities all the same- if you looking for trouble you will find it, but otherwise you are good.

Life is too short not to wear what you want, when you want.

You’ll be fine. I would avoid public transportation.

No cancern whatsoever. Rolex watches are in abundance in NYC. I see them more often than any other watch brand.

I personally just don't get this, but accept we're all different.
I'm originally from London (Hammersmith) and was last there for 5 weeks last July/August and it didn't worry me at all and I was in a t-shirt. I think if you're moderately attuned to what's going on around you you're good as gold - that said I'm well insured so might think otherwise if I wasn't. In the last 3 years I've been to LA, Vegas, San Fran a few times and wore my watch then. When I go to Singapore/Australia etc I often take a 2nd in my carry-on/hotel safe. Ironically I'm flying to Sydney today for my stag weekend and am having a slightly different conumdrum i.e. should I wear my olive day date or will I risk falling over pished and damaging it. Might hedge and go Rose Daytona. For me I really enjoy wearing my watches in nice/different places. This doesn't make me right of course, because as you say the activities of the Rolex (i-Phone) Rippers are well advertised in the media. It just doesn't worry me I guess, |

I take a lot of cruises and I never bring my Rolex or Omega. I have a GS that has served me very well and before that a Tudor. It's nice to wear something nice but not nice enough to have to really worry about. ![]() |

These threads always bring out a ton of opinions. This has already been stated, but I spent two weeks in NYC last month, riding subways, attending an event at Madison Square Garden and covering most of Manhattan and Brooklyn and never felt unsafe.
Have fun! |

you'll 100% be fine in nyc at pretty much all times of the day and on the subway for the most part (just avoid it after like 1am as it becomes a motel for the homeless and mentally ill at that time). we never had much of a history with watch theft here anyway

If you are only mildly concerned, take a piece easily replaceable by insurance. My travel go-to pieces are my BB58, OP, and Seiko Turtle, depending on where I go.

What’s the point of owning a Rolex if you’re too scared to wear it? If places like NYC or Philly were really that unsafe, even the locals wouldn’t risk wearing a watch.

If you don’t feel comfortable wearing a Rolex, why own one? Just wear it!

I have gone to both cities and feel fine wearing a nice watch. Use your sleeves if you feel uncomfortable.

Well.... I'm traveling to London later this month, and have never been! If anyone would like to share some favorite things to do, please let me know. I'll be wearing a Tudor FXD, if that matters!
Also planning on a few days in Ireland. |

If you have long sleeves it doesn’t matter.
One thing to keep in mind though that any major cities in the US there is a possibility of watch spotters in restaurants (typically staff) recognizing an expensive watch and ringing someone up to rob you on the way out. I only wear obvious known expensive watches in closed systems like Las Vegas, or to work. In London I bring my Grand Seiko to wear out on the street as it’s not obviously expensive. |

You could hide the watch under a sports wristband for peace of mind.
It's one method of wearing what you want where you want. |

Travelling to the US later this year...
I live in London and wear a Rolex most days including a new BLRO. Worn multiple APs in London without issue.
Last two times I was in NYC I wore my BLNR. 99% of times it’s late night antics while drunk (I don’t drink) or moped scumbags when you’re stuck in green park traffic in a G63 AMG. So long as you’re not in the slums, it isn’t full yellow gold, flooded with diamonds, or your wife looks like a target with a loud expensive bag you will be fine. |

Wear whatever watch you like the most. Don’t be oblivious about your surroundings and you’ll be just fine.
You’ll quickly realize, especially in NYC that you’ve likely underdressed in wristwatch terms. In Miami, that’s going to be a definite! Your Rolex will be lost among a sea of AP and RM watches! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
