Breitling SUPEROCEAN HERITAGE 46

So, first off, let me apologize. I apparently do not have the gift of watch photography like many of our members here do. This is why I always appreciate the beautiful photographs that people take here. But at any rate, I figured I'd have to take some pictures of the new addition to my collection (thanks Greg!). It's my first Breitling, and I really had no intentions of buying one. But once I received it, I totally fell in love with it. I don't have pics of the packaging up, but I personally found that the packaging is a huge improvement over what you get from Rolex, and the watch is far less expensive. This watch retails less than what my Rolex did 5 years ago. The other thing that I love about this watch is the way it has a clean dial, and looks very much like the Rolex Sub and Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. It's 46mm, but definitely doesn't feel overly large. So here are just a couple pics of my new Breitling (I may actually be a convert now, time will tell).
Again, these pics don't do the watch justice.

And let me apologize for the fingerprints, dust, etc. All my fault. Just wanted to get some pics while I had some sunlight.

David, I agree. It's a stunning watch, and very solid feeling. It does look great as well. And the AR coating is very nice touch.

It is watches like this that make me wonder if Rolex will be the collectible twenty years up the road. Not that I care. In twenty years I'll be wearing my pants chest high and complaining about the government full time. But this is a beautiful design...it's a keeper Frank.

I couldn't agree more. Especially with the volumes that Rolex produces and the fact that I think they are pricing themselves out of their most devout owners (e.g., me). I love my Sub. My favorite watch of all time. But just the little bit of wrist time with this Breitling is making me less enamored by the Rolex brand. Don't get me wrong. I love Rolex and will always love it as I have always thought of it as the quintessential watch company. But this Breitling is well made and just simply well executed in design.

Looking quick, it does look somewhat similar to an Omega Planet Ocean too :)

You're correct. It does have some resemblance to the PO as well.

Another thing I like is the hash markers on the bezel vs. the numbers. Very clean looking and understated, which is why I love the Sub too.

I absolutely love the way this watch looks. I would jump all over a 40mm one but alas, they do not make a 40mm, only 46mm (too big for me) and 38mm - a bit small. I may still get a 38mm one day.

Beautiful!

Thank you! You know, I had concerns about the 46mm being too large as I don't have large wrists either. However, this thing does not seem so big on the wrist. If it was the 38, I know that it wouldn't get the wrist time that it has been getting. Currently my Sub has been stashed as this may be my new daily wearer.

Congats my fellow dawgfan. I love my Brietling as well. They look fantastic and feel like they are truly built to last. I actually bought my Breitling before my Sub. It took me a little time to get used to the smaller watch.

Go Dawgs! Sic 'em!

For me, Rolex always represented what I thought to be the end all of watches for me. However, this Breitling simply looked to good to not give it a try. I love the size and weight. I love the clean looking dial and bezel. The clasp with micro-adjustments is awesome. I do wish I had a stainless steel bracelet for it as well. The rubber strap, while comfortable, does also look a bit too casual for me sometimes. I will definitely consider getting the bracelet after some time, but first need to focus on some other things first. But in the short period I have owned this watch, I have been very happy.

Like I mentioned, Rolex used to be it, there was no other watch company that I was at all interested in. But since the prices have spiraled up so high (IMO) I no longer feel that the present the same value that it once did. Don't get me wrong, my Submariner will always be my favorite watch, but I won't be nearly as hesitant to try another brand of watch, even though I always new Breitlings were a reputable brand, as is Omega and many others.

What a gorgeously stunning dial, Frank. One of the best Breitling dials I've seen out there without being too over-crowded. Love it!!

Wear it in good health, buddy......always.

Thank you, JJ! I couldn't agree with you more. The dial is definitely one of Breitling's best, in my opinion!

I think the SOH on the black rubber is THE combo! Nice choice pardner!!! Also, I tried some SOHs on in the Islands, summer before last, and they really wear smaller than they are. They don't look like a monster Panerai. Don't go by the 46mm, try one on you might be surprised - to those who write off the SOH because of the stated dimensions.

I tried the 46mm chronograph version in an AD recently.

You can instantly recognise that it's a quality product. The clasp is tight and precise and the dial is to die for.

I even loved the rubber strap more than the bracelet.

I'll definately be adding one to my collection.

Great pick up Frank! I bought one last year and recently sold it when I picked up my SD (thought they resembled each other too closely to keep both), your pics are making me miss it though.

When I first saw this watch a year ago, I didn't really like it. It just didn't scream "Breitling" like most of their other models do. During this past year, I have grown quite fond of this watch to the point that I would certainly buy it AND wear it in my watch rotation. The Ocean Racer black strap look squite nice on it as does the braided steel bracelet.

Congratulations on buying a beautiful watch! Oh yes, your photos are great!!
