I think I read somewhere that 1 atm. = 10 metres.....so 6 atm. = 60 metres.

Water-resistant to 3 atm = 30 meters (100 feet). Will withstand splashes of water or rain but should not be worn while swimming or diving.

Water-tested to 5 atm = 50 meters (165 feet). Suitable for showering or swimming in shallow water.

Water-tested to 10 atm = 100 meters (330 feet). Suitable for swimming and snorkeling.

Water-tested to 15 atm = 150 meters (500 feet). Suitable for snorkeling.

Water-tested to 20 atm = 200 meters (660 feet).but not meeting ISO standard Suitable for skin diving only.

Diver's 15atm = 150 meters (500 feet). Meets ISO standards and is suitable for scuba diving.

Diver's 200 meters 20 atm = (660 feet). Meets ISO standards and is suitable for scuba diving. But not suitable for depths which require helium-oxygen mixture.

Myself with that rating would only shower tepid water, and only fully submerse in very shallow water for a short time. But if you don't need to
get it wet then don't much safer.

Thanks again for the advice, I'm making it a bit of a habit sorry. I think I'll play safe and keep away from water.

If you wear it all the time, I would consider only showering once a year, whether you need it or not.

That's the problem with SDs, Craig. They're just not made to be in the water, even when it rains.

Great info Padi, where would you place the Panerai brand, where most of their line is rated at 300m.?

Recreational scuba diving recommened max limit 39m-43m maybe a bit less now.
Panerai 300m still only rated as a normal recreational scuba dive watch.Have been to a max depth of 63m with my Citizen a 200m rated watch without a
problem. But would have thought that was very close to its max limit.

Very interesting. I'm amused that my ExpII is 'only' rated to 100m and yet my TAG Heuer Kirium (hold the scorn please ) is rated to 200m. I've been as deep as 120m with it... no worries.

LOL, Ed I always take my SD off to wash the dishes, just in case.

Smart move, Craig. You don't want to ruin a good watch by getting it wet.

That's what were saying, D. Of course you shouldn't get a Rolex wet. In fact the only watch I know of that you should get wet is a PO Pumpkin.

120m I think you mean ft mate,or it took you one hell of a time to get back to surface with all the decompression stops. Most diving organisations now
recommend for recreational diving max depth 39m-43m max. unless you do a well planned decompression dive, useing the proper decompression tables.

The important question, Craig, is does the watch have a screw-down crown and what is the brand name?

Thanks - JJ
