YG 6605? Need help...
In need of assistance identifying an YG Datejust (18K case and bracelet I believe). The details are still coming in…but with the watch has what appears to be a chronometer certificate dated 1959.
The document contains: “Bureaux Suisses De Controle Officiel De La Marche Des Montres” Hand written on the document appears to be variations in daily rates, etc. Escapement = ancre. Hairspring = Breguet Balance = non magnetique Movement no 9/XXXXXX Ref 6605 S/ 48XXXX Is it safe to assume this watch dates to 1959? The series seems to place the watch in the late-1940’s but I may be interpreting this incorrectly. I thought that the 6605's were introduced in 1954. Also, what prices should be paid? (Appears to have been a “safe queen”. Watch is supposed to be all original and mint.) I will try to get pics soon. As always, all help is appreciated. |

OK vintage gurus...the watch appears to be an all original minty 1959 18K YG DJ. (Still trying to get pics.)
1. How collectable are these timepieces? 2. Any more ideas on current mkt values or trends? 3. Any rarity with these? Anything specials to look for (like the Double Red SD's) or are these usually just "nice older watches"? |
