New Beater.
Quite a good finish to satin case, dial very sharp, and lume excellent glow, 100m w/r 17 jewel Poljot manual wind.Unusual blue second hand, think that was main reason for buying it. from Ebay cost £40 winning bid including postage.

Good show, Peter.
I knew that blue second hand would get you. If it's anything like the Russian watch I bought 40 years ago at the World's Fair in Montreal, it ought to run for about 2 months before quitting forever. But it sure looks nice.

I read a long time ago that Poljot had a standing agreement with Valjoux in that Poljot would buy-up their old tooling and dies and retro-fit their shops with them, to basically reproduce a Soviet/Russian Valjoux movement. Not sure if that agreement still stands, though.
I'm sure mechanically they're not bad watches, but I would guess the key is the quality control in assembling and regulating. I've heard good and bad about Poljot, but for the money, it's hard to say it's a bad deal. Peter, keep us apprised on how it makes out. |

And a lot of people put Poljot down, but now there quality control have improved. And some of there new range even have eta movements, and the Chronos with calibre 3133,this movement is based on the old Valjoux 7733 movement, admit there quality control was bad at one time. But most now are great value for money watches, with long lasting movements if you get a good one. 1. Picture Cal 3133.

Here's one...
This is a reissue of a commemorative Yuri Gagarin Sturmanskie. I bought an original 60's off a guy in the Ukraine for $60.00 with original 3133 movement. Still have the watch but minus a pusher.
At $230.00 brand new today, it's a decent buy. |

Must agree most of the 60s up to late 80s were quite well built watches. Then a bad patch in the 90s poor quality control,it was a bit of a hit
and miss it you got a bad or good one.But now quality control is a lot better and IMO watches are now great value for money.
