did you take this free handed or from a tripod, If free handed that's one steady hand.

No tripod, but not freehand either. Placed the camera on top of a solid object in order to hold it rock steady!!

Hey JJ...I snagged a bunch of good ones like this and the found that outdoors with some indirect sunlight reflecting at an angle did the trick.

Thanks! I'm actually a photographer by trade so I have very little excuse for a bad pix. :) All the etchings were a Nikon D200 on a 70-200mm lens @ 200mm with a magnifying filter. I have a macro lens but it's on loan to a friend and once I get that back I should have some better pix to post.

I'm happy to give you some pointers for either a point&shoot or slr if you'd like.

Why don't you try going outside once in a while instead of spending all of your free time in front of the computer

Here's a thought, you're off for one more week so go outside and get some sunlight and fresh air. Otherwise you might start to look like grandpa from The Munsters

Thanks! It's an actual macro lens altho I have some extension tubes somewhere as well. :) The lens is so sharp tho it's worth the wait.

It's the newly introduced PANASONIC LUMIX DMC-TZ1, 5 megapixels with a 10x Zoom LEICA lens.

The first day I tried it, the results were poor due to the poor lighting I was using. Had to change my mind about the camera quality once I improved on the lighting. It's a pretty good camera....value for money.

here's a pic I took of a fake ( I know they're easier / the fake etchings are more obvious in my experience)...

this was handheld w/ diffused sunight Nikon D50 55mm
