Which spring bars? GMT II strap (79790a) on a Daytona 16520 body.
Hi,
My understanding is that the spring bars for the GMT Master II strap (78790a) are 20mm long / 2mm diameter. So.. 1. To fit this on to a Daytona SS 16520, we have to use the spring bars for the GMT strap and NOT the Daytona (20mm long / 1.8mm diameter). When.. 2. I buy a strap from Rolex, by default do these come with a pair of spring bars, or can I just buy them from the AD when I pick up the strap? If I am off base, could you let me know please? Thanks all! |

Both will work. The tip of the springbar is the same diameter for both spring-bar models. The 1.8 or 2.0 diameter is of the shaft. The shaft diameter is only relevant if you intend to use it with the bracelet.

Ok, so if I want to use the GMT bracelet I should use the 2mm thick springbars? Do you know if, when buying a bracelet they supply a fresh pair of springbars, or should I expect to buy them when I collect the bracelet? (don't want to get home and realise I have to go back to the shops to buy them) Thanks again! |

I collected my new strap from the AD. Not sure what I did wrong when I placed my order - but it did not come with any springbars.
Have ordered a pair of 20mm / 2mm diameter. Looks like I will just have to wait till next weekend.. |

Thanks...
I looked at the Daytona strap but the AD would not "polish out" the PCL for me. I probably should have tried a little "harder" and find an alternative watchmaker to do it though LOL. Would have saved me the hassle of going back to the AD for springbars. I basically copied Larry's idea! |

Check out http://www.minus4plus6.com/pdf/16xxxBezelParts.pdf Scroll to the bottom of the .pdf and I have case numbers and respective Spring Bar order numbers listed there. Be sure to make sure the case number you are looking at has a T for no holes case (eg. 16710T for a no holes / pierced case) as the springbars are different for pierced / non-pierced...
