Lug Holes on 14060m
I haven't had a chance to stop by an AD for a look, so can anyone tell me if the newest 14060m (Sub no date) still has the lug holes on the case? I know the 16610 lost them in recent years, but I'm just not sure about the no-date.
If they aren't on the new model, what year / serial number did they disappear? I'll be looking for a pre-owned 14060m soon, but I want the lug holes so I'm looking to see how recent of a model I can get that still has them. Thanks! Shawn |

I am pretty sure that they do have the lug holes still.

The current models have lug holes and non SEL bracelets.
Your best bet to age the watch is the serial number, have a look here for more info http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=8478 |

Nice thing about the lug holes, make it easier to remove the SS bracelet if you want to put a NATO band on.

Hi Shawn,
Welcome to TRF. Rolex have continued the age old tradition of lug holes on the sides in the Sub no-date model as well as the non-SEL bracelet. JJ

Did someone mention 14060m
The lug holes are still there as stated above and as JJ said the 14060m gets the non SEL bracelet. What does this mean??It means a very comfortable watch. Aaron |

Welcome to TRF Shawn both the 14060 or the 14060m both fine excellent watches. And both movements can easily run inside the COSC standards. And having lug holes or without makes no difference to the watch. No lug holes this just speeds up the manufacture of the cases for Rolex,by not having to drill right though the lugs IMO.

Just got back form the local AD... they still have the lug holes...
I didn't even realize this before this topic was posted, but I kinda like my lug hole watches better...

Thanks to all for the input!
I appreciate everyone setting me straight. I'm actually a fan of the lug holes as I plan to switch between the bracelet and a Nato from time to time. I think the holes are a functional "accessory".
I've gravitated toward the 14060 because the price of good condition 5513s has gone through the roof. This will be my first Rolex, and I've always liked the vintage Subs because they still look like a tool watch and not jewelry like some of the newer Rolex sport models (IMHO). After looking at a friend's 14060, it still has that rugged good looks of the 5513, just with the addition of a sapphire crystal and a little more "bling" with the gloss dial. Thanks for all of the great conversations on the Forum about this model. I feel good about making this my first acquisition! Shawn |
