Newbie TOG question

I am relatively new to collecting Rolex watches and also to this forum. I apologize if I am in the wrong forum for this question…..and try not to giggle to much!

I was wondering if a smooth SS bezel from a current datejust model could be fitted to a Z serial TOG to give it a different look?

my understanding is yes, but someone else will need to verify that...

also, because i'm curious, why not simply get another datejust? what is it about the dial that makes you want the tog model? is it the red second hand? for many, the rotating bezel is THE POINT of having it. cheers,

if it is possible, then it is something i doubt you could do on your own. if there are aspects of the tog dial you like, it might be easier to fit them into another datejust version.

Yes, it is the look of the dial plus the especially the red second hand.

I actually have both the black dialed and white dialed versions of the TOG in my collection.

I really like the look of the new datejusts with the more robust looking polished cases and domed bezels. The new polished Jubilee or Oyster bracelets are also a great improvement.

In general, I prefer a watch without a date function. I really like the look of the new dials on some of the Oyster Perpetual No-Date Large - 36mm models….but, they don’t have the polished cases or bracelets.

Which leads to my second question …….

Would the dial from a current Oyster Perpetual No-Date model fit on a current datejust model , just covering up the date?

hmmm, i'm not sure what effect, if any, covering up the date wheel would have. if you've looked at the back of dials before (various sites online), you'd notice that they have protrusions in order to keep them from becoming misaligned, in addition to any other function. try to find a picture of the backsides of an air king dial, and compare it to the backside of a datejust dial. that should answer it for you.

also, where in eastern tn? knoxville? tri-cities? farther south? farther west?

I am in the Knoxville area in beautiful East Tennessee.

I was aware of the feet on the back of the dials but was unsure if the non-date and datejust would match up. I will attempt to do more research.

I wouldn't be so sure that this modification would be possible.
I say that because the TOG has a rotating bezel and the DJ bezel is a fixed bezel.

Sorry but I'm just saying there might be a problem, unless one knows if there is any difference in the cases, one can't say for sure.

But one thing for sure is they are both 36mm cases.
