Sea Dweller

Hi, does anyone know which AD in US or UK still keep the M or V brand new Sea Dweller, I love this watch and want to add in my collection.
I saw they sell above $8K in Ebay, is this one the collectable model now?
Thks.

You should be able to find 16600 SD's at least for retail prices in AD's... and with some luck even at a discount... brand new

Poom, you might want to PM one of the trusted sellers like DavidSW and ask if he can get one for you at what price.

Call Baron & Leeds in Waikoloa Hawaii. They had 2 just a few weeks ago. Ask Janet for a good price.

Not seen or heard of any new ones in ADs in the UK for a long time now. The last one my place of work got was about a year and a half ago now

Good luck on your search and hope you find the one you want.

I am curious though...not directed at the OP or anyone in general but why base these things on the serial number for value on the SD?

Is an F series any less than a V or M in terms of value?

It's just because V or M were the last serial numbers made but i'm not clear why that makes the watch any more valuable.

Perhaps I just don't get it but the Sea Dweller itself should be more valuable due to the discontinuation and lack of them in ADs...only being available just on the used market.

The serial really seems odd to increase it's price.

If anything, i would put more stock on the condition of the watch than the serial letter. I also prefer the older tritium dials as they have a nice fade to them compared to the luminovas.

My AD just appraised my M 16600 at $10400 usd).....which surprised me.....or do they always inflate the value that much?

That's crazy. The list was $6,400...

If that's the case then these watches used should sell for about $6400 in near mint condition...

They must be crazy because no body would ever pay that much for one. A couple of weeks ago I could have walked out the door with a new M from my local AD for less than 6K. I would guess that in 40 years they won't be worth that much to be honest, those appraisals are insane.

I spoke to Baron and Leeds last week and they claimed that they do not have any 16600's left. Unless I didn't have the secret password or something.

Have not seen one at a UK AD for a long long while. Also, looking at Blower's and other good Grey Market dealers, I can't see any BNIB versions with seals intact. The prices for models 4-5 years old appear to be nearly the same as the last V's sold at ADs.

If it sold for over $8k, perhaps it was one of the new Sea Dweller Deep Sea?

The SD has not changed a lot since 1988 sure must be a lot around today, and now some being reported with the new type serial. The SD is not dead yet almost one year on since reported in Basel 2009 its discontinuance the SD is still being produced. Many posts on TRF stating by various ADs that V was the end but now SD with new type serials around.
