Daytona movement - breakin period?

I know that lately we've seen a number of threads about watches running slow or fast. This is a different slant in that mine seems to be doing both. At the end of last year I finally got my new Daytona (thanks to DavidSW). After getting used to it I set it to the USNO time on January 1. I checked it at the end of the month and it was just over 30 seconds slow. Not bad, but I was a little disappointed as my Sub has always been off by just 15 to 20 seconds a month. But I was enjoying the watch, so it wasn't a big deal. Today, I reset both watches due to daylight savings and was surprised to see that the Daytona was now only about 7 or 8 seconds slow (since the January 1 original setting). This does seem curious. I don't want to get hung up on a few seconds here and there, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this expereince with a new Daytona - or any other Rolex.

It all depends on how you wear or store your watches. I normally wear my watches night and day. When I put one of them on a watch winder, it keeps different time than when on my wrist.

I have noticed that the typical Rolex movement will speed up slightly over a month or so from new.. My feeling is that the oils have pooled in the pivots, etc., and as they move out to a film, the movement exhibits less drag and speeds slightly..

If your Daytona is only off by 30 seconds a month (or now only 7 or 8), and your Sub half that, then you have very outstanding examples...........
