My first Rolex (which I still have and treasure), a BNIB 14060, for $1730 out the door in February, 1994 from an AD. I recall that the 16610 model was $2200-ish back then...

A (now) vintage Daytona new from an Ad for 1800 bucks out the door in 1983. This was a rare TT with a Jubilee. I have only seen one other on the Wingate web site years ago. Long story short sold it 7 years later for $2200. I still search the internet daily to see you has it or if it is for sale once again.

Picked up a Y series SS Daytona for $7000+tax the Feb before the $9200 increase in March. Had all boxes and tags, my AD got it back on a trade in, he was original seller.

My best deal was my first deal.. bought a 1655 orange hand Explorer 2 for 700 pounds. No box or papers and in need of some tender care granted. I didnt have a clue as to what I had for a few months, then one evening, browsing the web trying to find 'my' watch, I eventually came across it with quite some excitement as I still remember to this day where I was! lol. Sold it a few months later for 3500 pounds to a dealer in Bond Street, London. Boy o boy do i wish I had have kept it But... I got a nearly new 16600 Sea Dweller and 700 pounds cash back.
Felt amazing at the time!!! Back in 2000. Bought it off my sisters husband. Shortly after I bought it it came out hed been having an affair with his secretary, they divorced. But... she had great enjoyment in telling him about the watch hed sold me as hed always craved a sub, little did he know he could have had one plus more with the one hed been wearing on his wrist! |

I have had several, including a new Daytona at MSRP, four vintage gilt dial GMTs and Subs -- two 1675s, a 5512 and a 5513 -- for around $2,000 each. My 1680 was also $2,000.
But I think my best deal ever was new Explorer II that I won in a raffle for $10.00 in tickets. I traded it even up for a one year old TT Blue Sub that a dealer had taken in trade for a new Daytona.
