Setting the 24-hour correctly on my (new) GMT 2: how?

OK guys. I've got my watch.

Question. Despite the instruction booklet, I cannot work out how to set the red hand ("24 hour") correctly.

In other words, to set the red hand so that it shows the same time as the normal hour hand ("12 hour").

At 4:00 p.m., for example, I want the red hand to be at the 2 o'clock position.

How do I go about it? (Detailed replies, please!)

(Photos may be posted later.)

Just set it like a regular watch, only ignore the 12 hour hand. Then, once you have that set up, push the crown in one click to set the 12 hour hand.

By the way, 4 pm is not the 2 O'clock position for the red hand... that's more like the 10 O'clock position.

I can't believe your AD didn't set it for you.

Huh? 4pm and the 24 hour hand would be at the 8 o'clock position. 4 am would be the 2 o'clock position. Like tonelar said, just set the watch using the minute hand only and the red hand lines up automatically, dependant on am/pm. After you're done with that, set the hour hand, then day/date. You're done...

Enter a new time zone? Rotate the bezel is the easiest way to do it. Just refer to the bezel time for hours, minute hand for minutes. Alternatively, set the hour hand to the current time zone. Refer to 'home' time by using the 24 hour hand while currrent location time is the hour/minute hands.

Now I'm confused... Easy to do, hard to describe.

Actually congrats... and like Pat said... 4PM -1600 and 4AM - 0400. I messed that up by just trying to do the math in my head.

Thanks guys. Yes. Clear now. (Yes, 4 p.m. is 16:00, and so it corresponds to the 8 o'clock position.)

I didn't realise that the minute hand and the red hand move together when they are adjusted.

By the way, all was set by the AD. I also asked them to gift-wrap the watch for me (on Saturday), so that I could open my present a few days later (last night, with friends). No need to shake the box, as I knew what was inside...

For other users:

To set the red hand to the same time as the time shown by the hour and minutes hand (i.e. all times in the same timezone).

1) Pull the crown out to the third (end) notch.

2) Set the minute hand correctly. The red hand turns also, so set that too (for example, 10 a.m with the red hand is at the 5 o'clock position).

Basically: turn until the red hand is at the correct position - ignore the minute hand for the moment. When that is done, turn until the minute hand is also correct.

3) Push in one notch and set the 'normal' hour hand.

4) Push the crown in completely and lock.

(With thanks to Tonelar!)

No need to shake it indeed... unless you wanted to insure that it remained wound up... Haha.

Solo,
Great video. The only instructions missing are the use of the bezel for a third timezone. Otherwise very informative.
Thanks,
dP
