AD's willing to discount, any recommendations

Hi everyone,

In a prior post i mentioned i am going to purchase the 40mm Plat/SS Yachtmaster very shortly (paying cash). I have a sole AD in my town that i would like to buy from, but i'm afraid they won't discount much as only AD within about 100 miles. As i want to buy watch from them, i intend to walk in and do my best to negotiate them down, but i'm not paying full retail on the watch and do expect some discount. Would anyone feel comfortable recommending some specific AD's to me that you know will deal. I live in Illinois, but would buy outside state if price was right as realize will save me sales tax also. thanks again.

First ask your AD if he'll do a better deal on CASH instead of plastic. If not, then try elsewhere.

Good luck - JJ

Cash is NOT king in the UK any more for large amounts.

Our overlords are phasing it out and dealers are being pressured into passing on details of ANY suspiciously high amounts of cash tendered or even offered, not just the £8500+ amounts.

I would have thought US would be the same for cash. Too much flashed and you may be a "terrorist".

Visa debit is king in the UK, electronic cheques with minimum bank charges.

That's what gets you the discount here.

Razny in Addison, IL is excellent. Ask for Robyn. They are a Rolex AD and are very friendly/non-pressure. I was planning to purchase my Rolex there; however, I ended buying it while on X-mas holiday in Nassau, Bahamas. It was less of a money thing and more about timing. Most of the other shops in the area C.D. Peacock of Schaumburg, Merry Richards of Arlington Heights, Fey and Co. of Naperville, and Jared of Naperville are not nearly as willing to negotiate and often come across like snobs. Razny will also double the warranty period and provide life-time polishing free-of-charge. Almost everytime I have gone there, a SS/plat YM is in the case. Good luck.
