Rolex RRP discrepancy

At my local AD today there were four watches, displayed side by side, which brought a RRP discrepancy to my mind.

TT Sub 16613 £4250 RRP
TT GMT 116713 £4970 RRP

GMT £720 more, that's OK.

The GMT has greater weight (a little more gold also), more complicated movement with the new modifications, ceramic bezel, greatly improved clasp.

But then I noticed :

18ct Sub 16618 £12,100 RRP
18ct GMT 116718 £11,670 RRP

GMT £430 LESS, HUH?

The GMT has even greater weight (all gold), same complications/modifications, ceramic bezel and chunky gold clasp.

I checked the other models and the prices are all in ratio to each other, except the new GMT. Can anyone here enlighten me as to the reason why?

All the 18ct GMTs have moved within a few weeks. As far as the 18ct Sub is concerned it has been there for months and months.

We are all aware that different models get discounted between very heavily and not at all from their RRP. Rolex keep the RRPs in ratio regradless of the demand of the watch, except for the new GMT.

Interesting observation, Paul. Yes, it does come as a bit of a surprise to me too that the all gold SUB should be more expensive than the all gold new GMT-II.

In Auckland, the new TT GMT-IIs are flying off the shelves. A few all YG models have sold too....but I honestly haven't seen an all YG Sub in ages. Plenty of TTs around, but no YG.

That pricing discrepancy certainly is a mystery to me!!

good evening everybody. thought you might also like to consider the latest prices in athens/greece:
gmt ii / yellow gold / black or green dial = 16,200 euro (cash or credit card card purchase)
yacht-master / yellow gold / blue dial = 16,100 euro (same as above).
prices valid as at february 9, 2007.
i was quite sure that the price of the new gmt would be substantially higher (thanks to its various enhancements) as compared to the yacht master, but the AD was adamant that this is not the case.
bad news (for me) is they do not engage in part exchange + cash; otherwise i confess that with immediate effect my 1984 submariner (16618) would regretfully cease to be mine.

Is the sub a green bezel model? if so, they are going for more than the black bezel models in most cases.

They are talking about all gold Rolex models,the LV with green bezel only comes in S.steel.
