Which DateJust model are you after? The current Canadian dealer catalogue has 7 pages with 17 versions of them. Prices range from the 16220 @ $5,230 to the 116189 @ $58,380.

Launch Mini is in Vancouver and I'm sure will share his thoughts with you. I believe the AD he uses is Palladio:

I Do Not Think The Price Difference Will Be That Much, Especially When You Can Get One Out Of State Here With A Discount And Save On Sales Tax Also.

Don't buy a new watch in Canada if you are planning a trip to the US. Even with exchange, they're cheaper.

List prices on DJ don't mean alot in Canada
SS were listed around $6k, the new TT models around $10+
Pretty sure you can get good discounts, but US prices are much better.

I got just over 20 points on my 116200.
Decent price. It's about on par with US prices.
Agreed though - if you're heading to the states anytime soon, pick one up there, don't waste the extra 1-2 thousand here

I'm interested in a starter Rolex the 16220 . I have some relatives in Hong Kong, will it be smarter to purchase there than in Canada or US?

I picked up my SD last month at a 21% discount of the retail price of $6480 Canadian. Add back the 14% for taxes and the final price out-the-door was $5,836 Canadian.

The rate of exchange as of 02/08/07 was 1 CAD = 0.84 USD.

Let's make it 0.80 USD as banks charge exchange fees.

My SD would have cost me $4,668.80 USD at 0.80 to the dollar.

So the question here is, what's a typical discount in the USA and what's the tax rate in the state you are buying in?

I figure, yeah, I could have went to NY State, saved maybe $100 US and then would have the fun of bringing the thing back over the boarder with me without getting caught with it at customs. The chances that they'd pull me over are slim, and even so, who'd think to question a watch on my hand. Unless they found the box and papers in the car.

Yes, sure I could wrap the box up and mail/courier it back to my Canadian residence. Simple enough I guess but more money spent. Add in the cost of gas to get there and back and unless you're prepared to pay cash on your first trip out, you may have to drive down there again, so make that 2 trips.

I considered doing this also, but when all was said and done, it would have been a pain in the a$$ with some moments of anxiety and stress. All-in-all, I didn't think it was worth it to save only $100 US.

Unless someone here can tell me I could have gotten the watch for as little as $4200 USD in NY State Near Niagara Falls, I'd say I'd be wasting my time.

As for going over the internet and buying from an online jeweller on the grey market, forget about it!!!!!! With the declaration of the package at customs and paying out insurance for the watches shipment, it would cost you more money than had you bought it here in Canada at the MSRP. On top of that, what are you going to do if the watch is a fake? Go to the states and fight it?????

Just my 0.02 cent based on my own research.

I'm going to be in Vancouver in a few months, so what's the price of a TT blue sub in Canada and what is the average discount rate? And even though taxes are 14%, can't I get the 7% GST back when I come back in the US?

So with an exchange rate at about .84, will it beat $7400 out the door?

I was at 2 AD on saturday, neither had a TT Blue Sub.
These are still popular here, and I would guess not much of a discount.
BUT it all depends on when they arrive in the stores.
Before christmas, seemed that all the AD's had at least one in the window.
You can hit 3 AD's in a few blocks downtown.

You'd have to check on whether or not you can get your GST back. I know here in Ontario, they scrapped that so now you pay on tax just like a resident would.

Understand though that if you do, you're pretty much declaring it (the watch) at US Customs and now US Customs may be in the position to take that 7% from you anyway.
