I have bug bites on my arms and Carol put some cream on me. A little got on the Rolex. Now if they do not eat my arms off they sure as heck won't eat through a steel watch casing, nonetheless I was wondering if there is anything to be concerned about as far as medicines, alcohol, creams, lotions or anything else that may hurt the watch. I do not mean the green hologram and I am not worried about the casing, but I am concerned about the crystal. While I try to keep the watch clean, getting stuff on it will happen of course.

Anyone?

Not really. I use my 2T sub as my daily watch, diving, beach, suntan lotion, bug stuff, bbq...everything ok.

I get sheep drool over my crystal sometimes....no problems!!

Actually Alcohol might harm the crystal....

a mate of mine... we were having some alcohol... got a bit drunk.... he knocked his watch on the bottom of the basin and cracked the crystal

I use mine every day at the hospital, it gets all kind of sterilization and antibacterian soaps and alcoholic liquids. no problem at all, so far...

Well anything you can safely put onto human skin, I would be 100% sure that your S.steel Rolex, would not come to any harm by it contacting the S.Steel

Keep chemical solvents as well as ammonia away from your bezels eg. Sub, SD, GMT.

It will mark them, trust me!

I use the theatre scrub soap at work ... Used it for 6 years om my GMT.

You might just want to wash the residue away afterwards so it won't leave a layer of grime that dull the look of the watch.

I can't see much of anything that you are exposed to daily harming the SS of your Rolex.
Just look at appliances, bathroom and kitchen plumbing fixtures, and the SS forks, knives, and spoons that we all use and clean with household chemicals.
When's the last time you saw the front of a SS range or refrigerator corrode from cotact with cleaning solutions? Or a fork of spoon that has been run through the dishwasher with different kinds of cleaning detergents for years?
I know how it is to worry about something that's so expensive, but I don't think any medicines would harm your watch

Well I think phosphoric acid can etch the steel, and is used in some products but not skin care. What about bleach? Isn't bleach an oxidizer?

I say, put the watch on the pillow that comes in the box, then put that into a bubble-case they put souvenier signed-baseballs, and then just carry the case under your arm. Then when someone asks you for the time, you can just pull out that bubble-case and say dhoh!
