Newbie with an Oyster Datejust
Hi!
My name is Claudia, and I recently joined the forum and have been lurking since. I thought it would be nice to start participating by first introducing myself. :) I have a Rolex, it's a vintage (1981) men's Oyster Perpetual Datejust (full gold). I got it from my late father, who was a sea captain, thus my screenname. I really like its classic look :) I would love to learn a little more about Rolexes, mine included. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! |

Welcome Claudia
I hope you enjoy the forums, that is a great keepsake from your father....real nice If you could show a photo of your watch that would be awesome.

Hi there, thank you for the warm welcome.
Yes, I'd love to show you my baby: It's model 16018 And a little confession: I have never worn it because I don't really wear gold (unless it's white). But nonetheless, I am looking forward to learn more about Rolexes and in the future I'll get one that I'll actually wear I forgot to mention in my first post, I'm currently living in Spain! Any other members out here from this corner of the globe? |

That is a watch befitting of a captain.
It is 36mm, so although you don't wear yellow gold, what do you think about the size of the watch, is that to your liking or do you prefer a smaller or larger size dial? What Rolex would you like to wear?

Hi everyone, thank you so much for your welcomes!
The watch does have a nice history, since it was Ahmed Zaki Yamani who gave the watch to my dad (and the women's version to my mum) as a present when he was on board the yacht my dad was a captain at. Ah the life of a wealthy Saudi, Rolexes are gift tokens for people you just met, lol. Anyhow, my dad only wore it twice and my mom hasn't taken hers off ever since. As for my dream Rolex, this is the one that I would love to own (the picture is obv not mine, I got it off the Internet): |

Kia ora and welcome to the forum Claudia
That's a beautiful watch with a great history. Don't worry that you haven't worn it yet, maybe you'll feel different later. My wife is the same as you, she won't wear yellow gold either, she's holding out for when we're older Just beautiful That's pretty You'll get it one day
