Comments Made About The TT Blue Sub
A couple of weeks ago when I picked up my TT Blue Sub at my AD, the on site watchmaker made an interesting comment. After he set the time and date, he gave the crystal a complimentary polish with his tie. Before he handed it over to me, he held it closer to his eyes, looked at the dial and said........ " TT with the blue dial. You can't get much more Submariner than that." I just nodded my head and agreed.

I was watching a show on Discovery today, it was about Wyland the marine artist. He was wearing a two-tone blue dial Submariner including while he was diving.

From light blue,to dark blue,to different colours of blue ,to almost black, depending on the ambient lighting. Its especially nice looking, with a dark surrounding area with a directional source of strong light ~ Then it really shines !! Its also not only the blue from the dial and the bezel, but its how the white from the markers and the white gold around that, stands out and sparkle. Also, the gold of the writing on the blue dial.It is a remarkable design. In my opinion, the nicest looking Rolex of all !!

I showed a picture of the TT Blue Sub to a fellow collegue of mine who was "shoulder-surfing" while I was looking over the re-vamped Rolex website.
He knows nothing about Rolex except that he knows the watches are high quality and very expensive. When I showed him the TT Blue he said that the choice of using blue with gold was an interesting choice made by Rolex as he said those two colours/shades together are for "good-luck" and were used in early Egyptian times when they buried King-Tut in the pyramid. Apparently, the casket that King-Tut was buried in was encased in gold with blue accents. The same shade of blue as in the TT Sub. |

BTW - when I take some photos of my Rootbeer GMT-Master II after it arrives tomorrow, I'm gonna show you some distinct similarities in how this dial looks when the light hits it. It has the same properties as the TT Blue Sub's dial - just in bronze. Here's a photo (not mine) to whet your appetite: See what I mean? It will NEVER match that fabulous blue of the Sub, but it is very nice in its own right.

Allan,
You have a BEAUTIFUL GMT II root beer dial. Actually, sometime last week, I was my local AD and saw a TT GMT II root beer dial too. At that time, I was only trying on the Submariner and SS GMT II. I figured that the TT was a little bit too flashy and of course price wise, it was a few $k's more. Now, I am not sure anymore. The TT GMT II root beer seems to be "calling out" to me. I am sorta drooling more and more. Would you know how regular the production of the modern root beer dial is? What I meant was, how rare the root beer dial is compared to the other regular TT subs or even the SS subs or SS GMTs. Or would anyone know, do tell me so that I can ease my mind and decide soon if I might pull the trigger on the TT root beer dial. |

JJ,
wondering why your TT Sub was at your AD's? Just getting a clean-up? Oh, and was the tie he used made of "wool" ?

Sorry, Ragu, but you've got me confused. When was my Blue Sub at my AD's?
