Ellen's Watch

So I'm sitting here watching the Oscars and... I'm trying to see what Ellen DeGeneres is wearing... looks like a mid-sized Yachtmaster? Sorry if this has been covered ad-nauseum before (I searched). Looks like it has been 'spiffed' up for the show or... brand new. Sure does catch the light. Looks good

So do you guys find yourselves getting frustrated when you catch a glimpse of a watch on some movie/show but never get a proper shot to satisfy your curiosity? Happens to me too often...

I just mentioned the exact same thing to my wife as we were watching. I couldn't get a real good look as well. I told my wife, Ellen's wearing a rolex!

Yes guys....Ellen always wears a Rolex.

When I watch her show, the credits at the end tell us that her Rolex is from some place (can't remember the name) in Beverly Hills.

She wears a white dial Daytona in her publicity photos.

My favorite watch of the evening was Mark Wahlberg's YG GMT-II. It looked like a Green dial.

Yeh I heard that on her show she once said "I'd love a rolex submariner' and the next day she's wearing one and thanking a particular store for sending her the watch. Since then, she's been seen wearing all different Rolex models on her show/tv. The store she mentioned regularly has people coming in saying ' i want the rolex ellen wears' - been brilliant marketing on their part.

Here's the info:

HOUSTON -- Before heading to work one day in March, I.W. Marks, president of I.W. Marks Jewelers, watched part of The Ellen DeGeneres Show and saw a golden publicity opportunity. DeGeneres mentioned on the nationally syndicated talk show that someone had sent her a gift, but what she really wanted was a Rolex Submariner. So Marks sent her one overnight.

DeGeneres thanked Marks for the watch in the opening segment of her show. Within hours of the mention, the store received dozens of calls from potential and existing customers.

"We've gotten numerous phone calls and e-mails," says Marks' son, Bradley, who is vice president of the store. "We've even had people come in and say, 'I want the Submariner that Ellen has.'"

And the publicity-fest may not be over yet. After receiving the Submariner, DeGeneres told her viewers that she really would like to have the hard-to-come-by Rolex Daytona stainless steel chronograph.

In response, Marks quickly sent DeGeneres a letter saying the Daytona was hers--if she came to Houston, did her show there and accepted the watch from him in person. She declined. But Marks sent the watch anyway in the hopes of furthering his relationship with DeGeneres and the show.

"We did it just to build that relationship with her. It's not every day that you have a local independent store getting national publicity," Bradley says.

Watching the Oscar's in High Def and using a DVR I was able to reverse and freeze frame on Wahlberg's GMT II. Very cool!

That's how I treated my ex. Her reply was usually along the lines of "What took you so long?"

She is also a Panerai wearer.
You can see it quite clearly in HD if you watch her talk show

She clearly has good taste. Has an Australian partner too

I should also add that I find her rather irritating... her voice or something, goes right thru me. I only find it amusing when she dances or something!

I was in the store in Beverly Hills today that lent Ellen her Yacht-Master for the Oscars. I asked if she got to keep it, they said no, and she had returned it earlier today.
They added that the deal is that if the watch comes back with even one scratch, she would be the new owner of it, and expected to pay for it then and there. Larry.

An addendum o my last post - Thinking back to this afternoon's conversation, they may have said that Ellen wore a platinum Datejust, not the YM.
