ADVICE NEEDED - from all my buddies here

I got an offer for a mint just overhauled, new bracelet 1680 white dial sub.

the offer is some cash + the sub for my LV.
is this a reasonable and smart deal
or should i hold off until the market is hotter for the LV after basel?
Thanks guys

Depending on the condition of the 1680, who did the work (RSC?), and how much, might be OK. I believe new 93150s with 580 end links are about $850 USD.

Here's one of mine, RSC service and new bracelet and insert,

Toronto RSC.
New everything
complete overhaul
costed 1750CND.

Offering somewhere around 750CND + 1680

should i do it or sell it outright and keep it on the market?

Seems like a pretty straight across trade. Nice 1680's seem to be in the low to mid $4kUS range. One fresh from the RSC with paperwork I would think would be mid-upper $4kUS. Just a couple hundred under what a decent LV would run.

If he's throwing in $750CDN, I think you're coming out pretty well if you want a 1680.

If it was me, the deal would be done by now. :)

Ok, one more question. Does new everything mean a new luminova dial and hands? That would make it 100% functional, but will impact the value to a collector (if that's a consideration to you)

Toronto RSC is excellent. I would want the papers of course.

Do you think the demand will go up for the LV after Basel?

Hi Aadil,

Since you asked for advice, here it comes....

DON'T SELL THE LV. Hang on to it for the time being and enjoy it to the fullest. Buying an old Sub (even with some cash on top) would be a silly move IMHO.

You have in your possession a brand new Rolex watch which is quite sought after. Why the hell should you get rid of it?

Clear your head, my friend....and start thinking stright!! Take a deep bloody breath, and think, think, think!!!!

Hang on to that LV. You'll be glad some day you took my advice.

That's it. I've said what I had to say......no more on this subject from me.

Cheers - JJ

It's not a matter of keeping it JJ
I would have loved to keep it as discussed with you
But, the market this quarter has raped me and I need to cushion blows or I'm domino-ing my portfolio to hell.
So a grand maybe a touch more and the1680 may be a safe bet
considering i need to get SOME cash out of this thing a-sap
i have people interested in canada looking to buy this watch
ill wait to see if they buy it tonight.
if not, ill negotiate the 1680 and be done with it.

If you're looking at this as a keeper, I'd be all over, but if you think it will wind up on the for sale block down the line, Mike is right. The SL dial won't make collectors happy. As a user, I like it.

I bought mine from Eddie Platts at Time Factors when I picked up a couple of NATO straps. 1 tube goes a long way, but I bought a few. Keep one in the car, one in my work bag, etc.

http://www.timefactors.com/

Now that you have a vintage Sub, you have to get a few NATO's for it. :)

I didn't even think of that!

I'll have to pick up a springbar tool, couple of natos as well as polish.

You gotta wqant the 1680 or you will have an albatross you will need to sell again. YOu are selling Kermit. I think if I were you I would be patient and you will get the money on that watch as yours is a great offer on a new watch. You will just get another watch lioke the one that you are selling with a black bezel and no maxi dial. Since you are a flipper, I think you might regret it even though the sub you are looking at is no doubt very beautiful.

Keep your watch unless you really want the 1680. Is 1000ish CAD really going to cushion anything?

My thoughts exactly. How much of a difference is a lousy grand going to make?

If we are talking something like ten grand or so, I can understand....but to lose a beautiful new watch for a mere grand?

I don't know. I'd say he got the better watch and $1000 for his pocket.

1000 didn't really cushion anything, but it made me feel a bit psychologically better that i tried to sell it in time of need :)
Anyway, waiting on the 1680 as we speak.
Should've gone out today but didn't
Seller said he will get it to me by saturday with overnight delivery + sat delivery or same day. Hopefully he pulls through :)

Hopefully it gets here soon
im in the midst of a move and no better time for things to go missing
