Which topic about Rolex fascinates you the most?

Hi guys,

We have discussions on Rolex all the time.

But which topic about this watch really turns you on?

For me, it would have to be things like the weight of the watch, the bracelet links, fit and resizing as well as the prices.

What's yours?

JJ

I like to hear who got what low price on his Rolex!
Battle for which is the nicest looking!
Which one is an all around practical model!
Would like to hear more from the ladies about their Rolex's!

I kind of like to know about the tech part, movements etc. My old GMT has a 1575 which they said was a great movement, then the 3135 which is part of the reason I bought my Sub, now this new Daytona movement sounds really facinating.

I love all the different variants there are of the Rolex models. The one post here of the watch with no date but a gold face with black lines, veeeerrrryyyy nice. You will not see that elsewhere. Then we have the Milgauss, Leopard Daytona, and all the various Subbies.

The classic, timeless look, much like an S500 Mercedes, they always command respect.

The one aspect that always absorbs me is the overall versatility of the brand, there’s a model for every occasion or activity, however the dressiest can be worn using a jack-hammer and the most rugged worn with suit, simply wonderful.

Well that's some great responses! I gotta agree with all of them.
I guess the history of the brand and the accomplishments have always interested me.

My favourite topics are the threads about "Which toothpaste, underwear, suppository, fast food restaurant, and dishwasher soap do you have with your Rolex?"

Aren't you guys being a little redundant, suppository - corncob pipe, prophylactic - freezer bags, kind of the same things, no? And you both forgot, GUNS and KNIVES, my Rolex dealer just added two glass cases of pistols and three of just knives! Bill

Well Bill, you could be right. But...I personally have never used a corncob pipe as a suppository (although I can think of some people I would like to recommend that to) or a freezer bag as a prophylactic (much too small). Guns and knives are good...never seen them in a Rolex dealer's shop, though. VEEEEWY INTEWESTING...

I love to hear how each Rolex is made, How much time goes into each watch, And of course cool functions you never knew about (Such as difference between Explorer II and GMT II)

I also love the rarity of the watch. One day if I turn out the be the world's oldest man at age 121 I will probably say something like "I'm finally at the top of my AD's SS Daytona list! Yay! (cough cough) Yay!"

I love all the watch porn! I am amazed at the beautiful way some of you capture your timepieces. I also love reading about newly aquired Rolexes. For most of us here, it's a really big deal. Something we've waited for a long time. I like sharing that with all of you!

I used to think it was the beauty, the history, the precision of the watch until I came on this board and realized some knucklehead from NZ could actually make 26,500 posts about a watch--now that is what fascinates me!!!

You don't see the word "knucklehead" used much these days, and that's a shame. Being new to the forum I wouldn't get involved in whether the opinion is valid or not, but I intend to use the word more frequently now that Terry has refreshed it for me. For me, the beauty of Rolex ownership is (amongst other things) being reminded of ways to amusingly insult people. I think it's money well-spent.

That's the great thing about the word. It IS endearing, and we Australians are always looking for ways to further endear Kiwis. It's just how we are.
