Icon20 Is this a good deal?

Hi all,

Last weekend I happened to be in Chinatown and found my way to an AD there. I took a look at the 'Bluesy' (as JJ calls it) ... Yeah, JJ, you are solely responsible for my turning interest from a SD to a TT Sub! .

After trying it on, I asked the salesman what he wanted for it. He quoted me
US$7,600.00 out the door. Note: it is a "D" series.
As for authenticity, he said he would show the serial # between the lugs and compare it to the certificate.

So what do you think? Is it a great deal?
I'm interested in hearing all of your recent purchase experience with an AD (vis a vis discounts etc). In particular, I would like to hear opinions from guys in and around San Francisco Bay Area.

Regards,
Han

PS: does "D" series TT Sub have SEL?

Hi Han,

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that's NOT a good deal. I got mine last December for just US$5900 out the door.

Yes, a "D" series will have SEL, but the current series is the "Z" series...not that there's any difference at all.

But that price of $7600 is way over the top. Given where you live, around $6500 should be a good deal.

...which I doubt will ever come out. If there is going to be a new Blue Sub, it will in all probability be in FULL GOLD with the BLUE Ceramic bezel and matching dial.

Bad price. I got a new Z series from an AD brand new in the box a month ago for $7045. Not far from San Francisco. Portland. If you want one let me know. You could by a ticket, fly here get it at that price and still save $300 bucks and have a new Z series.

....and if you take him back to your AD as a referral, he might even get a further discount as compared to what you got....being a second sale!!

Han, just drive north to Southern Oregon and you can get a much better deal at either Hart Jeweler in Grants Pass, Oregon or Skeis in Eugene.....

Sounds like the price is on the high side especially if it is not an AD.

Retail is $7825, so anything under that including tax, is better than full retail.

Thanks, Kansaivet. I might just take you up on it.
I know all about your new, handsome TT Sub.
How do I contact you when I'm ready to go ahead with the purchase?

Thanks,
Han

Mr. K,

I checked with Rolex USA, they are an AD.
I guess it is just the high price for living here (we're paying $3.30 for a gallon of regular).

Regards,
Han

Plus no sales tax here. I don't know how Cali looks at that though.

Seriously, I wouldn't pay more than $6300 out the door for a BNIB from an AD.
