Pocketwatches...

The SO and I just got back from a nice long weekend in New Orleans. While walking around, we found a vintage watch shop. We went inside and immediately hit it off with the shop's owner. There were some neat vintage rolexes there with the highlights being a 1950s antimagnetic chrono, and a LNIB 1680 which has some of the best tritium I've ever seen.

However, I was drawn to the old pocket watches. I've always wanted one if anything as a novelty. I ended up buying one with a hunter case. It is an Illinois (a brand later bought by Hamilton). I was told it was from 1919 and the store owner restored the movement. The watch is gold plated and has an almost perfect dial save for a scratch. I've wound it up and it keeps excellent time.

I wanted to ask if anybody else is into these and where I could find out a little more information. Either or, it's quite neat and a great addition to my collection.

Cheers,
Chris

I'm not sure, I haven't seen the back opened, but there is s little lip on the back that makes me assume it pops off. I also don't know what the dial is made of but it looks like porcelain or some sort of enamel...

For the era,I would say it is!!
I could be wrong but I think the hunter case just pops open on the back!

Last year I had a British military Pocket Watch that I sold....Very cool treasures.Should have kept it!
