Time of Date Change

Hi all,

Would like to seek your opinions/experiences regarding the a/m.

I have noticed that the date on my GMT II (3186) changes about 5mins past 12 midnight.

Q1: In your experience, what's the "out of box" date change time?
Q2: If I send it to a RSC for adjustment, will the crown alignment be changed? Currently, my (crown) aligns upwards PERFECTLY.

Cheers!

My 2002 GMT II changes date about 1 1/2 minutes after midnight.

All my previous Rollies changed dates AFTER midnight.

My current Blue Sub changes a few seconds BEFORE midnight!! Wonder why?

Accuracy of the watch, however, is amazing and spot-on!!

On the Rolexes I've had, the date changed approx. 3 minutes past midnight.

It annoyed me a bit, so I went to my AD and had it fixed (the crown's "direction" did not change after the operation).

After that, the date changed spot on.

I just LOVE that little "click" sound when it happens!

But in a way, a quick date shift is not that practical. Because if the date doesn't shift exactly at 12, there can be some confusion about what date it is.....I mean: you can ask yourself "has the date shifted yet or not?"

On Omega and IWC for example, the date changes slowly from around 11 PM so that you have no confusion about the date.

Mine varies. Sometimes I've seen it a 12:04.47, and other times I've seen it at 12:01.37. The watch itself keeps excellent time, and watching for the date change after midnight is always fun because I wonder which way it's going to go that time, sooner or later?

Although I agree with Peter and Mike, if it is worrying to you that the date changes at 5 minutes past midnight, given that your watch is under warranty, it would be possible for you to have Rolex change the position of the hands, every so slightly to align with midnight +/- 1 minute to have the date click over.
Again, it is O.K. but if it is an issue for you then I think it isn't a big issue for Rolex to remedy it to click over a lot closer to midnight.
My sports watches all click over within -1 to +1 minute of midnight
