Buying a Rolex on TRF - Warranty Transfer Question

Hello awesome folk,

I am saving for my next purchase and it is 50/50 chance it will be a Rolex. Quite naturally, I would like to buy on TRF from one of the good guys...

Now, as I will be aiming for a piece with some residual warranty, I arrive at this question - numerous threads discuss the differences between Rolex SA and Rolex USA where the US warranty is limited to original owner, whereas others (Rolex SA) follow the watch.

Has this (silly) Rolex USA policy changed? If I purchase from TRF good guys, chances are I will have a US warranty - will this effectively mean that although *with* warranty, the watch will not be covered by one?

I think you catch my drift - any comments and advice most welcome.

Rolex Dallas seems to cooperate with a warranty in a different name; while Rolex NYC does not seem to.

It should be noted that there is no guarantee, just that it seems to work in Dallas. There is a risk that can't be mitigated.

Well in my experience with Rolex watches over 30 plus years the warranty is very very seldom needed. And myself have never had any problems except for once, but that was fixed by RSC London although not my name on warranty and with no questions asked.

Thank you for the link.

I see I did not make it clear: 99% of my time is in Europe, so the question should probably be re-phrased to "will Rolex SA and other Rolex EU dealers respect Rolex USA warranty"?

If a warranty is a high priority for you, I would suggest a NIB from DavidSW with your name on the warranty card.

I agree with Padi though............. the likelihood of you needing warranty work is next to nothing.

I got my Rolex on Ebay brand new and the warranty card is blank. Do they just hand write your name in? If so, I guess I can write my own name on it, right? First and last only or how do they do it exactly?

If it has the AD stamp you can do that, if not, good luck.

X2
also few things you can consider the the cost of service if needed and the saving if buying with a filled out warranty not with your name.
If the total savings is greater then the acctual cost of service then you make your call
Also you might want to check with sellers as you might be able to get the warranty under your name as well.

A Rolex warranty is good the world over..

However, not many of us carry a warranty card for all of our purchases when we travel............
