Camera Fun

Day off today so I figured I would sharpen the camera skills.....although I have a long way to go compared to some of the photo guru's on TRF

Pulled the "family" out of the safe and took some pictures.

The only one that is missing is my wifes other SS DJ 79174. She was wearing it this morning. Hence the empty space on the end. And I shouldn't drink coffe before trying a lume shot

The family

GMT II 116713LN Z
GMT II 16710 Z
SS DJ 16220 T
TT DJ 179217 (pink gold, MOP dial) D
SS DJ 79174 U

I just noticed something looking at the photo of the Anniv. GMT. The cyclops date of the 19, the 9 looks slightly thick on the right side. I looked at the watch and noticed that there is a slight distortion of the date. This appears to be a slight distortion from the cyclops lens and not a mis-print of the date. I checked with a loupe and the printing is fine. And I also selected other dates and moved it around to see if it changes and the distortion moves with it.

Has anyone ever had a distortion of the date thru the sapphire crystal?

Should I take this back and get it changed?

At the end of the day I can still read the date OK, but I have never seen distortion thru the sapphire cyclops. I have attached a pic......

If it's still under warranty I'd get it remedied.
Can't say I've seen or heard of distortion in the cyclops before, so congratulations on being the first
It seems to me to be a legitimate complaint, as it will have an effect on quite a lot of dates, not just one (19).
Rolex should be able to replace the crystal while you wait. The only thing might be that you will get the "R" replacement laser etching in the replacement crystal, which you may not prefer to the original laser etched crystal that will not have the replacement designation.
Good Luck on what you decide, maybe even talk to Rolex and see what they can do

Nice collection you have there. Love the side by side GMT shot. Hope to be able to do one of those myself one day!

That cyclops shot is interesting. I would certainly take it back to Rolex, its an obvious manufacturing issue.

BTW if they give you a new watch I'll take the old one

Cool pics, my favorite one in your collection is the SS white faced DJ - very clean looking!

On the cyclops, like the others said, tough call. Could you email that pic to Rolex and see what they say?

Thanks I had the dial changed last year to the White one. I agree, very clean and very easy to see.

I checked all the dates, 1-31 thru the cyclops and there is certainly a very slight distortion on the second number. Could this be a TRF first..... I lokked at it under a loupe and there is a clear change in the number shape when looked at.

I bet the Rolex factory flaw means your watch is more valuable than ever with the Rolex flaw on the 9. Your watch is unique.

Hi mikey

The problem is the cyclops...not the numbers......but you got me thinking about the uniqueness of the watch now
