Bought it new in 2001, I don't remember if the bezel at the time rotated both ways, It now goes counter clock wise only. But it was serviced less then a year ago, now I read on another thread that it should turn both ways. I wanted to double check before I take it to the AD to ask them. Thanks in advance.

A gmt bezel should turn both ways.

GMT 's are bi-directional sounds like someone may have replaced the click with a sub click which is unidirectional. Rik

The AD's watch maker swears that 'this' GMT II is one direction, he showed me the book from ROLEX about this watch, a green book with part number and stuff, and we had some what of a disagreement.

The owner came out and pulled a new GMT II out of the case and sure enough it's bi-directional bezel. The watch maker did a back step and is going to call ROLEX on Monday to confirm that it is indeed uni-directional. Big Russian watch maker, didn't want to argue with him anymore. Anyways, he'll call me Monday with his answer.

Just an update, I know you guys are probably right.

Yeah, they're right. There's never been a uni-directional GMT.

I called an factory Authorized service center and they couldn't really answer the question, unless they had the number between the lugs. What difference does that make, either all the GMT II are bi-directional or there not. I just don't want it sent to RSC and have them send it back because of this. This can't be that difficult. There should be only one answer, the consensus on here is that it should turn both ways..

It's amazing how lacking in knowledge some of these "Rolex trained" people are. I had exactly this same issue a few years ago and the watchmaker was adamant that it should only go one way: until I showed him the other one on my wrist. Then he did at least acknowledge his error. They had damaged the bezel during service and replaced it with a new one, during which the wrong spring was fitted. They replaced it of course with the correct one. About a week later the whole lot fell off when I was wearing the watch!

Mark, I suggest you run as fast as you can AWAY from that AD and find another!

If his "watch maker" (I use the term loosly) doesn't know, then I would be reluctant to let him do anything to your watch. Take it to someone you feel confident with.
