hi, all you helpful experts, i have one question, how do you tell an original rolex president band link, i can tell from the clasp and endpieces if the majority of the band is original, but how do you tell if just one link seperate is original.

All links are very hard to authenticate.

my theory seems to be right, but cant find it written anywhere

hi and thanks for your reply, i can easily tell with oyster and jubilee links if they are original. I have a theory with president links, but it would be great to see some literature, or the opinion of a true expert on the matter. I have searched the internet extensively, read books, their is no reference to president links. My theory is to do with the screw thread. I have had a few of my president watches at rolex service centre and i compared one link they said was aftermarket and took off my watch with the ones they said were all good on the watch. I have sent a few watches in since and my thoery has held so far, however it would be nice to see it written somewhere, or verfied by an expert. Regards

I once examined an aftermarket 18K bark link and the link itself was very close however the screw was the giveaway. The head of the screw was different and not as precisely made as well as the threads and bevel on the screw shaft were different. I've also been told that most aftermarket link screws will not fit properly in a genuine link and vice versa.

Some knock-off bark links are obvious, IMO...

If you look at the screw on an original and a fake you can tell by thickness and threading the fakes just aren't quite right. Rik
