FS: Circa 1974 Rolex Oyster Perpetual 5500
For those who appreciate the aesthetics of a clean dial and simple design, this Rolex is about as clean as they come. This is a terrific example of the Oyster Perpetual 5500. It is similar in design to the Airking, but more difficult to find. It is a 4 million serial, dating it to 1974. The watch is in terrific condition, with its original tritium hands and dial in great shape. The case has some light surface marking, but no major dents or dings. Serial and model numbers are clearly marked between the lugs. The twinlock crown screws down perfectly. Watch was serviced last year and is keeping terrific time. Watch is mounted on a full length 62510 jubilee with mild stretch and no bends. All in all, this is a recently serviced and cosmetically sound example of a harder to find version of the 5500. I would give it a very conservative 90% rating or better.
Please note: On a couple of shots, the lume dots appear misshapen. I assure you they are not. It is the way the bend of the crystal is affecting the image. I am looking for $1950 OBRO on this piece. Email me at sbobosi@gmail.com for quickest response. Limited history here, but a strong one on other forums and auction sites. Happy to provide references. |
