Hi Everyone,
I have been looking very careful on the site and wondered if there are some basic things i should be looking for to see if the watch is authentic.
My choice of Rolex is two tone Sub Blue or Black face.
For a first timer wanting to buy can anyone help.
I understand if the price is too cheap then the watch probally is.

You could always try and post some pictures of the actual watch you contemplate buying and many here could probably help you . Safest is buy the seller even if you have to pay a little more.

Three things to look at off the top of my head:

1. the Cyclops -- the date window should "fill up" the magnifying lens. If you see large swaths of dial, or the lens seems mis-aligned, that's a red flag.

2. the A's -- when Rolex prints the letter "A" on a dial, it has a horizontal line at the top. Look at the "A" in "Submariner" (that's the biggest one). If it has a point at the top, it's fake.

3. the crown guards -- look at the watch straight-on. Do the bottoms of the crown guards "overlap" the crown itself? They shouldn't. For some reason, the fake-makers have a lot of trouble getting this right, and it's easy to spot.

Too many people buy first and then ask questions.

I believe Matt refers to the shape of the letter A itself and whether it ends up in a point or it is truncated so to speak (not a separate line on top of the A).

I see, well i've checked for it and yes sir it ends up in a horizontal line not a pointed A..Thanks for clarifyin masterserg ;)

EDUCATE yourself! A Rolex watch is an investment and a possession you will likely have for a long time. Take your time and do your research. It will pay off in the long run. TRF is an excellent source of information on the subject. Good luck!

when examining it dont be tolerant about even the slightest imperfection, a gen will not have any blurry, misaligned... etc parts

I think piece of mind in worth a lot of money. Why risk it? Buy from the guys here (i.e. Tony, David, Greg, or Oscar to name a few.

My next purchase (hopefully before the end of the year) will definitely be from one of the above. They have countless good dealings here and EVERYONE is ecstatic about their purchases.

I purchased a Pam 320 from Oscar and it was perfect. Never had a doubt and what he promised was what he delivered. Even when the local ADs said they would have to order it (3-4 weeks) and I'd have to wait with ZERO discount, Oscar made it happen within a couple of days.

And at a great price too!!!
