Don't know what to make of this. The hands should be of the classic mercedes symbol type as far as I know....The rest of it looks ok.

I would say that the dial is not original, neither are the hands. Dial looks too perfect and is also marked as just "Swiss". I would have thought at this age it would be tritium. Also the dial is marked OysterDate, I thought these were how manual wind watches were labelled, a perpetual, which the 5500 ref is, would be marked Oyster Perpetual then Date underneath (I would have thought).

I may be wrong, I was once wrong, once before..

I agree, but he clearly states ref 5500, which would either be an Airking, or an Explorer, I thought Airking Date had a slightly different ref number, plus the Explorer was never sold with a Date feature. There is little information in the listing other than that. On that basis alone I would say there is something wrong. When I list something I give as much information as possible.

I think that watch stinks.
