when the movement is not signed

Hi Experts,

When the movement is not signed apart from one wheel should I be worried ? Does the movement look ok to you ?

Would this watch form a part of your collection ?

yup, its signed. ROLEX EXTRA PRIMA. i think this signature on that gear is correct for this movement. there may be something stamped on the verso, but you have to remove the dial to inspect this. lets see if someone else chimes in.

Yes, but the signature is on the wheel not on the plate, this is my point. Does it make a difference. On many (most) vintage Rolex watches the plate is signed too !

I suspect that on the front plate - under the dial - it will say 'Rolex 10 1/2 Hunter'.
Yes, it is original and not unusual without 'Rolex' on the train bridge. Tylden.

yes, its unusual for rolex, but this particular movement is a common one and normal for this calibre. this was what i was trying to explain, but clearly i came up short.

Thank you very much, Tylden and Harry for your answers. You said that the movement was a "common one" . WHICH MOVEMENTS ARE COMMON AND WHICH ARE NOT COMMON ? HOW DO I KNOW ? DO YOU HAVE ANY INFO OR BOOK THAT COULD ENLIGHTEN ME ON THAT ? This would be interesting to know for collection purposes !

A lot of the old Oyster Watch Company movements are not signed on the back, but on the front side behind the dial, you will find "Rolex Geneve" engraved.

Could you assure me that it is a gent's watch ? It measures approx 3 cm across (excluding the winder) ? Please help !
