TT Sub legit or not?

Hi,

I have been lurking here for a while and trying to learn.

I came across a TT Sub of mid 90s vintage. I have not yet seen the watch in person and figured that I'll ask the experts on the board first.

If you haven't seen the watch then where did you get the pictures from?.A lot more information would be helpful please.

Not sure, but I don't think Rolex made a blue sub dial with diamonds, etc. back then ... only serti dials had gems. In fact, I think the only blue sub dial with diamonds appears on the new blue ceramic. If I had to make an educated guess based on the photo, I'd say the dial was not genuine. I can't comment about the rest of the watch without more information, visual and otherwise.

I am pretty sure the dial is after market with added diamonds.

Dial would have to be aftermarket. The rest of the watch looks all original to me (from what I can see in the pics). But there are many things I can't see to confirm its real.

The seller sent me the pictures, the guy lives quite far from where I'm staying that's why I thought I ask for opinions before I check it out. I also got a blurry picture of the paperwork, the serial no start with N which should be 92 or 93.

Dial is aftermarket no sub serti dial has ruby markers on it to my knowledge gmt does this. Blue sapphire and diamond only, On a blue dial for two tone and gold models. Also diamonds are set wrong the outer surrounds are sold gold all the way around, you can see in the photo that the setting on this ones is broken in 4 parts, it does not completely surround the diamond.

I also suspected that the dial was an aftermarket. How much will a non stock dial typically affect the price?

It's not really all to do with price it's about the watch functioning prouerly over s long time. These dials are not made to real Rolex specs, close enough is good enough with aftermarket, not so with Rolex. Secondly, it looks like a fake to an expert,you even noticed it right and thought does it look right ? That's why are discussing it. Thirdly, no Rolex service centre will service it, without replacing that dial with an original plain dial at least $1000. People add money, but I would take at least 500 off the price of a fully original watch. To replace it with a good used dial at least.
