Tell me more about this.

Hi everyone,

I am just starting to really get into the history of Patek... So naturally I have questions. :P
Right down to it, take a look here:
clicky

Here we have a PP minute repeater pocket watch; however the movement is unsigned by Patek Philippe, what does this mean? How does this affect the watch itself? The servicing on it? How would you steer a young man interested in this?

Thanks for reading all.

I would doubt very much that Patek ever made an unsigned movement for one of their watches, it just doesn't sound right. Otherwise, provided that I am wrong and this is a real movement it remains a re-cased pocket watch in a gold filled (if not just plated) case. At this price I would rather get a new Patek or at least an all original smaller vintage wristwatch (after all, even if it's real, would you really wear a 51mm watch on your wrist? I kow I wouldn't).

P.S.: I don't even know if Patek will accept to service this given the fact that it has been modified (even the crown has been changed).

The original case was lost! How do you loose a pocket watch case and retain the movement and dial? Its a recased pocket watch making it worth virtually nothing to me anyway!

There you go! Again, worth virtually nothing should the movement be an original one...I still doubt about it a little bit...
