My friends first rolex

I am helping my friend purchase his first rolex. He likes the black ceramic sub. I fully endorse his decision. Any thoughts??

Curious question without the context! On a forum full of Rolex enthusiasts, many of which own or have owned Subs, it's not likely that anyone would suggest it as a bad choice!

So, what's the context? Does he have other watches, where a gap exists for the Rolex to fill? Is it a do everything, go everywhere watch? Is he interested in future value? How big are his wrists? Does he like classic or fashionable? Does he want the Rolex to say anything about him?

Give the guys here something to work with and I'm sure some very valuable feedback and advice will be forthcoming.

Good luck.

Make sure you make them try on plenty of other dive watches first, I personally think the Sub is pricey for what it is. Keep an open mind and don't be hypnotised by the brand

Great first Rolex. I often wonder how many Sub wearers actually dive? I think it's for the look, not the purpose. Kind of like driving a 4 wheel drive SUV, how many take them off road?

I wonder this myself. I dive, however I don't feel comfortable taking my Sub with me into the ocean. I guess I'd be too paranoid that I may scratch / damage it.

To the OP, if your friend can afford the Sub C and wants it... go for it!
