Icon5 Any Explorer II 42mm (216570) With 'G' Serial Numbers?

Just wondering if any owners of the 216570 have a 'G' series serial number.

The watch was introduced at Basel in 2011 and the random serial numbers were introduced mid 2010.

Just curious if any of the Explorer II made it out the door as a 'G' series?

If so, would they be more collectible?

Thanks!

Do you think the 'G' series would be more collectible?

The s/n will make no difference in intrinsic collector value - but at least you would know approximately when the case was milled...

I can think of no reason to collect any Rolex based on a serial number alone.. ...

No modern day Rolex watch will ever be collectible, you are talking about a mass produced brand after all. It is just a letter before the serial number, why would that make a watch that is identical to the other thousands of them out there already a collectible??????

By the way, my local AD had quite a few G serial 216570's, should I stock up?

The 216570 was leaked at the 2010 Basel Watch Fair, then pulled back by Rolex for whatever reason.. We all saw the leaked photos and were expecting it at that time..

I would suspect that most of the initial releases were G serials as a hold-over from the initial runs..

I would doubt that G serials will end when they reach G999999 and both the newly released Basel 2012 the 114060M and the new Skydweller were both reported as G serial. Today far to much entheses is put on a case stamp but that's the internet for you.
