My first PAM!
Hey guys!
I've always been a Rolex owner (16610 and 116710), but recently I'd been looking for a PAM292. I tried one on at an AD not long ago, and suddenly my interest sparked in Panerai. I didn't get into the Luminor though, and so Radiomir it was! However, after not managing to find the right one at the right price here in Egypt, I took a little time to think. During that time I did some more research and, after seeing a lot of photos of broken/chipped ceramic watches and learning a little more about the "tool" origins of a Panerai, I decided a steel watch would be better. After all, it is a tool watch and is supposed to be able to take a beating. I decided to look for a PAM183 instead and, not long after, I found one! It's a second-hand O series in great shape, and I was able to directly trade my 2003 Y series steel Submariner for it. Here it is, but more photos later when I get home and pull out the macro lens! What do you think?

Personally, I LoVe the 292, but only as a second PAM. Steel comes first. So, in that sense, you did great! The 183 is a mighty fine choice.
Enjoy and welcome to the madness! |

I think you did well in your choice, I also was in love with the 292, or so I thought, then after trying it on and after much serious thought, I didnt get that one, it just didnt sing to me, but the 183 is a beauty.

Well in 5 years, I have owned 3 PAMs but the 183 was my first. It's a classy watch and far nicer than the 292 if you ask me

Congrats on your excellent choice! steel is real, don't forget that - especially for your first PAM
Next up, a ceramic Sub - the 508; then you'll have covered all your bases

Thank you all so much! I'm really happy with it, and still very excited to get the black buffalo (suede) strap for it!
By the way, by trading my Y-series Rolex Submariner 16610 for this O-series 2012 PAM183... do you guys think I got a good deal? Travelller, the ceramic Submersible does look interesting! Looks like I'm getting addicted!

Love the 183. I like Panerai watches and feel like the Radiomir design is really special. Funny thing is for me was I walked into my local watch dealer with my 292 on and left with a almost new Sub C. My first Rolex. After a couple of months I started missing the Rad and looked for awhile for 183 at a decent price. Had a hard time finding one and ended up with a 190 instead. In any case I would do a SS before the ceramic as the first Pam.
Enjoy the 183... Lots of diversity with straps as well. |
