New Member, Time for Rolex Service

Good evening.

Long time lurker here; enjoy the anecdotes and pics.

Mine:

Wife gave me a Submariner for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. I WAS a submariner (US Nuclear Subs) and always admired these beautiful works of art and science.

But it is time for service.

It is over five years old and no longer auto-winds, most probably due to a rather hard knock it received in Hawaii. I must confess that I wear it in all conditions, and am active, work in industrial facilities, and do most of my own wrenching.

I want a service center that will do a four-dot-oh job, but leave the bezel that has a (sentimental) scratch in it, plus clean it up nicely and fix the rather dodgy band, using Rolex parts.

I'm in Virginia currently, but have no problem shipping it anywhere that makes sense.

Anyway, good to be here!

X2!
Either Vanessa or Rik are going to do my service next time around!
Also, thank you for your service! Being aboard a Nuke I bet you have some great stories to tell (if you could!).

Where abouts in VA?? Manassas here. Rik Dietel at Timecare Inc. did an absolutely fantastic job on servicing my Submariner. His turnaround time is awesome and your watch will be restored to perfection at a reasonable price. He is located in Florida.

Thanks, folks.

My wife offered to hand carry my Submariner to Newport Beach for Vanessa to take a look at it, as Newport Beach is her home town, from many years ago! We left Cali for the last time in 1985. I'm not sure when she's headed back out that way.

On the other hand, I'm going to be traveling to Florida twice in the next three months, and if I could find Rik's place, I would drop it off. Actually I think the wife is going to travel with me for at least the Miami area trip, if not the Key West trip as well.

I'm in the Virginia Beach area.

As far as pictures go, I'll have to work on that (inability). Hmm, subs (I was on three of 'em) and a sub.

Again, thanks for the kind greetings.

I to have a GMT II that is in need of service. I have worn it for around 15 years NON stop. I has some band wear on the links that is worn the edges round. The case is OK but the links Im not sure are worth saving. Its stretched a bit and the flip lock is real worked over. (No one can say I didnt get my moneys worth out of this one) The crystal has several small chips that are on the edge. The case and bezel are in good standing with nothing hardly at all.

The watch will periodically stop working and when shaken or wound it will restart and keep great time until who knows when it will stop again. I know its ready for a lube but Im thinking there is a few hard parts that are in need as when you tilt it in your hand it has a distinctive grinding sound not that smooth free wheel it had.

So Here I am. The watch is definitely repairable but the band I am not sure of. I mean you can polish the snot out of it but its stretched and has corner wear. Whats the option ? A complete new band?

Send the case to Rik Dietel at Timecare, inc. in FL

Or Vanessa (see her contact above in this thread)

Send the band for restoration to Michael Young in Hong Kong

Some of the best in the business.
