16713 Rootbeer, Clean Dial and changed bracelet

Whilst avoiding going to the pub last night I stumbled upon this in the local Souk here and may chop the Explorer 11 against it but I have a couple of issues.

1, For a 93 (S Serial) it has 0 Patina and the dial is in perfect condition - Like new. My 88 Explorer has plenty of Patina, should I be worried?

2, This issue makes me worry more about the 1st one. It has had a bracelet change to the newer short safety clasp (Pic is not good owing to the tape on watch). What year did they change the actual clasp to having the gold run through the centre of it? I thought it was after 2000 and this bracelet is before that?

Thanks, that is what I thought..........And a U clasp is @ 98. Unless they just changed the actual clasp.

It all looks good just a bit mismatched............

Its nice, the dial and bezel look brand new but they want 24,000 for it. ($6500)

With a changed bracelet and clasp its putting me off, I may offer them 20k ($5500) and see what they say. As it is here the sales people look at you like an Alien when you start questioning things, they just think they can charge a silly price as its old/new.....

Its the same as here in the uae, but if u show u know a bit they will negotiate. Everything is negotiable here, I would offer 18 and take it from there. Don't show u know too much, there are two shops here that they wont sell to me because they branded me as a "trader" just because i knew what rodico is and a few other silly things.

Keep us posted!

That mad Rodico knowledge certainly puts me one up on the sellers!

The prices are a bit over the value here in US methinks - how did the deal end up?

Nice Rootbeer. I've owned watches that had a later bracelet. I recently sold a submariner that was attached to a newer bracelet. The customer didn't mind it all, he actually saw the value in the newer bracelet...

Go for it Man, then change your avatar...!

I looked again last night and took $5500 into the shop................

I walked out with...................$5500

He wont go less that $6500. Its cheap compared to the UK, but expensive compared to US. It is mint condition but that $1000 more means I will need to flip the Explorer 11 to justify it.

(It will cost me $6500 + 2 extra links owing to my wrist)
