Hello Orchi,
that is really too bad... this Speedy simply looks gorgeous! It is in amazing condition! Like Jason wrote, I feel your pain too... :-( Just make sure this Speedy finds a good home... so you'll know she's in good hands, when she's gone...

Err buddies...thanks for your kind consolations...
It's inevitable that Orchi would have to part with it...n head on to hopefully achieving bigger ambitions...for higher end n rare Rolex vintage watches. The Speedy Pro Mark III watch was perhaps the 1st of its kind for automatic(Cal.1040) chronograph watches produced by Omega subsequently after years producing their once legendary manual winding chronographs which were tested...certified n deployed on all manned space missions by NASA until the late 60s. The other Speedy that Orchi previously owned was even rarer...It was a Gold filled Pro Mark II(MD145.034) with manual winding Cal. 861 chronograph movement... ...Images courtesy of Chuck Maddox..http://home.xnet.com/~cmaddox/MarkSeries.html Orchi had to part with the Mark II at the time with much regrets considerably...before venturing into the world of collecting Rolex vintage watches... n soon quite likely...Orchi may regret to do the same for this rare...Speedy Pro Mark III(ST176.002) "Deep Blue"...as well. |

Orchi, the condition of your Mark III is just amazing!!! The case has its marvelous "sunburst" finish to it... you don't see that too often with these models... And judging by the rotor of the cal. 1040, it has seen a jolly thorough service at some point, and the rotor was replaced! I have another watch coming soon... otherwise I'd PM you about it!!! x2 Let us know... let us know...

Err buddies...for added infos...a similar Omega Speedy Pro Mark III "Deep Blue" was featured in the 2007 OmegaMania Thematic Auction Manual as Lot 214...
But Orchi believes that specimen of Speedy Pro Mark III "Deep Blue" watch featured during that auction held at Switzerland in 2007...probably has NOT got the period correct type of Omega bracelet......as compared with the actual details issued in the Original Omega factory catalogue... |

Err buddy Minas...n Petros...it may be too late...Orchi is afraid.
Orchi's best hunch would be...that this Speedy Pro Mark III "Deep Blue" watch would soon go to a good home...or it might get a remote chance of ending up at the Omega vintage museum...or someplace like that... Oh btw...remarkably after 35 years or so since it was produced by Omega...this watch could still be running accurately in the straight line...at the Test Bench...with full chronograph functions @+1 second per day... Just amazing...!!! |

Nice. I have a Speedy Pro MK II. The one with the grey dial, and orange/red accents. Don't see too many of these.

Hmmm - couple of things here Orchi.
1) I'm slack jawed over the condition and I assume the rarity of that watch. Congratulations. You must be hunting some mighty big bear if you're willing to part with it. 2) Do you have a wrist shot of that watch ? How high does it sit ? 3) If it's crass to ask then forgive me, but what is that watch worth in USD ? Thanks for posting. |

Buddy Orchi, I love the dial of that watch but in my honest opinion, I do not really like how the case sits so high like that. From the side view, it looks like the mouth of a volcano.
Its still a nice find and a great watch Buddy Orchi. Its definitely super rare. Sorry to hear you're saying sayonara to it.

Buddy Orchi:
One is believing that good buddy Orchi could save this magnificent watch and use it as a weapon if needs be. One could imagine said watch being used in some kung fu movie by Jet Li or Jackie Chan. During the heat of battle the aforementioned weapon could be utilized to imprint the large case on the opponents face and other exterior parts. The movie would earn millions and the watch could then be auctioned off as part of a famous movie set. Think about it! That thing is HUUUUUUGGGGGEEEEEE! But in stunning condition. It would sit awfully high on my wrist as well. I could not imagine it as a daily wearer. Terry Newton

Holy crap! I imagine this watch would get noticed...perhaps for the wrong reason by some. That's funky.

I love it! I think it has a beautiful dial and a unique look that reminds me of some vintage divers I've seen. I have never seen this model Omega before. If I may ask what is the ball park value of something like this?

I see this thread is really old, but i joined the forum to be able to view the pictures. I have been trawling the internet for ages trying to find one of these, but i did not know it was called a 'Deep Blue'.
I have one of these! It is a daily wearer (well almost, it is swapped with my Omega dynamic every few days). As a daily wearer, i keep hitting my son on the back of the head with it when i go to put my arm round him! Anyway, mine has dents, scratches and a slightly water damaged dial, but i wanted to ask, the only difference between the two, is that the second hand on yours is a jet style and mine is a kind of yellow arrow. Would this be original, or has the hand been swapped? Yours is beautiful, mine is rough and used, but i love it and i love the attention it gets! Jamie |

Wonderful thread!
As for the last question about the yellow Seconds hand in a different form: Maybe the hand was replaced at one point. Cheers! |
