Price Increase

So my friend at the local AD said that they were getting ready to up the price of the Speedmaster. They are changing the model number and adding straps to it. Has anyone else heard this? I didn't see anything on the forum about this so far. Supposedly everyone has been buying them up. Shouldn't be a tall tale by the AD to make me buy one, since I was buying one at the time for a present. Makes me want to get one for myself though. Any thoughts?

It is happening. The reference 3570.50 no longer exists and will be replaced with a new box, strap, loupe and caseback seal in a black packaging thus increasing costs to around 5000-5200.

The ref number change is just due to a new system that Omega will be using. The watch is the same, apart from now the bracelet uses screws instead of pins.

This is the new box, think this can also be ordered without the watch.

Maybe the first few at AD's will be bought up, but it's not limited edition or anything, Moonwatches are always in AD windows so doubt this new one with box will be hard to come by in time.

That box is very impressive. The hardware added is very sub-textual "positioning against" marketing aimed directly at you know who. Especially the loop.

geo, so how long before the bnib 3570.50's start appreciating? or are there a million out there.....i would think the pressure up would begin because all the extra stuff with the new version isn't the watch itself....

Don't think the old one will appreciate because of this, the watches are the same, just that Omega want to use a brand new system for ref numbers.

The model number was never stamped on the case.

My dealer always keep s large inventory of Speedy Pros in their various forms but when he heard about the new packaging and higher price, he began filling his vault with even more.
