Tell me that I'm sane! (15300 contrasting date ring?)

I really want an originally sized Royal Oak (read not 41mm), but the 15202 is out of the question due to price. Therefore my next step, is naturally to look to a 15300.

Now I was initially leaning to either a blue or black dial in any Royal Oak model, but that DAMN contrasting date ring on the 15300 just makes me want to pop a vein and start murdering people!

Please tell me I'm not the only one!?

P.S. I have come to a realisation that I do actually like the white dial a whole lot more than I initially thought

I truly understand you. Same reason why I picked up the white. But I must admit, the next one, likely a 5711, will be blue

I think both look great, I had a black dial 15300 before. But I would say this, it really depends on what you currently have and if you want go sportier. I think the white dial is sportier and the black dial more on the dressy side. No wrong answer; I just saw a 15202 white dial (I didn't know that existed) and it looks awesome

oh, i think the white square works well, actualy, and fills that part of the dial a bit. otherwise, there'd be too large of a gap on the right side of the dial.

anyway, with a 15300, the dial is so beautiful, i'm not sure i'd even notice the date window.

I would just save up for the 15202 IMO. It will be worth the wait. When you are spending this kind of money on a watch I would do it right the first time and get what you truly want

Now that I've slept on it, it does not seem to irritate me as much, and you may have a point about balance...

15202 = $20k (used)
15300 + JLC Reverso Grand Taille = $16 (used)

I haven't even saved up for the 15300 yet, and couldn't justify forgoing on the JLC to get the 15202 instead. Not a perfect world, this one (

The white dial on the 300 is flatter and not like the silvery white refractive one of the 400 so be aware of that. Personally I prefer black or blue on SS watches to give more contrast and depth and the date window is a non issue for me.

The white date window can be unsightly to some. The 15400 not only has a colored wheel, but a small marker at 3 which really helps balance out the dial. I would go with the size you feel most comfortable with (41 vs 39). The 15300 & 15400 are very close in price nowadays (used)

The silver dial is pretty sweet. That said, I would like to add a blue dial of some sort to the collection at some point.

Both are nice even though on the white dial it's nice not to have any contrast...
