First Rolex

First time owner here. I have mostly owned budget pieces such as a Seiko SKX009 which I still wear and love for different reasons. My most meaningful watch is a 1950's Vulcain my wife gifted me on our wedding day.

The funny story behind this 16200 is that 2 weeks after acquiring it I dropped it about 5 feet on to the bathroom tile (face down). It destroyed the crystal as well as my attitude for about 24 hours! I bit the bullet and took it locally to the Rolex Service Center here in Dallas. 4 weeks later they returned me a watch that looked brand new and has their 2 year warranty. Really a top notch job but it did cost me $850.

Anyways...here is the watch!

Gorgeous piece. I've long admired that particular Datejust as well (white Roman 16200), and may well soon add one to my collection.

That's the problem w/ sapphire crystals, they crack a lot more easily than the old plastic crystals! And are more expensive to replace.

Vulcain makes nice watches as well.

It's a beauty! The best DJ configuration (smooth bezel and Oyster bracelet), IMO.
