Brown spots in the Hour markers in Matt dial?
Hello dear members!
Have come across many vintage such as mainly Rolex 1680, 1665, GMT etc with hour markers having little brown dots inside...What are the reasons that these little brown dots are formed? Are they natural, or due to moisture or any other external reasons? There are many sellers also claiming the dial is perfect or near-perfect even though these brown dots on the White/yellowish markers are not visually beautiful, at least from users point of view... How would you guys think? Many thanks for input! SD |

The head guy over on another site describes the hour lumes as "moisture meters".
When you see major changes in them, it is an indication of water having gotten into the watch at some time. You can clean the movement and replace the hands, but the lume changes are pretty much there forever.... I would prefer to have a watch with no issues on the dial....

I'm not keen on grubby hour plots or hands, myself. It depends on the degree though, I suppose, and the rest of the watch .It could be from moisture, yes.

I echo the same opinion with K. Most probably it's the moisture issue and try to google for more info - there was an article written ♛lunetteverde@Instagram♛ |
