What can you tell me about this Ladies Oyster Bubbleback i got for my GF
Sup,
I bought this Rolex Oyster Perpetual Bubbleback (the one the left) for my girlfriend as a Holiday gift. The serial # is 388xxx, according to the sources I have seen on the web it was made between 1945 and 1948, there is an engraving on the back case that has a woman's name and Dic 1947, so I presume its 45-47 and originally from Spain. I thought it was a manual wind but im reading the point of a bubbleback is to fit a rotor, I can hear movement when I shake the watch so it may be auto, can anyone confirm if its auto? I also understand that the Seconds Sub dial is rare, I have not seen many like this one on the web, the Arabic dial seems to be rare as well. The closest Ref. # ive seen to it has been Ref. 4486 but its not an exact match. I have a feeling the hands may have been replaced at some point because the other pieces I have seen like this one have had different hands. Its in pretty good shape, really nice patina on the face, it could use a polish but its not bad at all. Can any of you fine folks tell me more about this watch? Thank You! |
