Are you able to see the etch of the coronet at the 6 o'clock marker? The LV sub I looked at this weekend did not have one..

Oh yes, I've already spotted that under my 10x loupe.

Your LV Sub will 100% have the etching. Try this: Hold the watch under a powerful light source or even in brilliant sunlight...then grab a 10x loupe and you will spot it quite easily. It does need a powerful light source for quick spotting.

I am able to spot the one on my ss sub without a loupe, under the right conditions. I was not able to on the LV at the dealer. His comment was that not all crystals will have the etching. They pick and choose which ones to put them on..

The laser etching was put on by Rolex on EACH AND EVERY Rolex from mid-2003 or thereabouts....starting from the Y-series. The LV will have one.

That was what I thought as well. However, my ss submariner is a Y series and did not have one until I had the crystal replaced. I checked many, many times with different loupes to be sure that was the case. So did a couple dealers.
