DRSD back from service
Back in early October, I made a post here asking for advice regarding a DRSD which had been given to me by my father some time ago. Although it took me some time to do my homework, I'm pleased to report that I have the watch back from service, and am very happy with the work done, etc.
Living in Canada, I was reluctant to send the watch to the US to use one of the watchmakers commonly recommended here such as ABC or Rikki. I contacted several watchmakers in Canada, and eventually decided to have the watch serviced at a local (Ottawa) AD who would do the work in-house and agree to not replace any visible parts without my approval, and also to not polish the case or bracelet, all provided I accepted an in-store warranty on the work versus the Rolex warranty they would give with a standard Rolex service. Using a local watchmaker also meant no shipping of any kind, which was attractive to me given the sentimental and dollar value of the piece. Since I wanted to wear the watch often, I opted to make sure it was water resistant. As such, the crystal was changed for a service crystal, and the crown and HEV were also changed. The previous crown on the watch was not original anyway, so that would not be a cosmetic change. The movement also needed some parts replaced, given the span of time since its last service. I received all the original parts removed from the watch back for safekeeping should I ever decide to sell the piece. Also, when I posted in October, I didn't yet know the serial number of the watch. It's a 1,72x,xxx serial. The caseback had the matching last three digits, and a production date stamp "IV 67". I received the watch back from service a couple of weeks ago, and have been wearing it daily since. Unfortunately, I already have one scratch on the plexi, but that's a fact of life with wearing the watch, and I guess I'll be looking into how to polish that out myself before too long. Thank you again to forum members who gave me advice etc. back when I originally posted. I'm really enjoying having this watch back in wearable condition. |

Nice job - don't worry about the odd mark on the plexi. Easy to remove!

Could you let me know who you had it serviced by? I'm in Ottawa as well and would like a reliable local watchmaker.
Your watch looks great! Cheers

It's great to see such a fine watch in the possession of someone who really appreciates it and treats it the way it should be treated. I salute you both.

DRSD back from service
Congrats on the reborn DRSD and it looks spanking 👍 IMHO , watches are meant to be worn & that tiny graze just need a dab of Polywatch or toothpaste
